Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis for ‘Moon Spell’ dies at 89

Olympia Dukakis, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work on “ Moon Charm, ” has died at the age of 89.

The announcement of his death was shared by his brother, Apollo Dukakis, on Facebook:

“My dear sister, Olympia Dukakis, passed away this morning in New York. After months of health problems, she is finally at peace with her Louis.

The actress has appeared in over 120 plays, in addition to appearing in over 60 films during her career. In 1988, she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, in addition to a Golden Globe in the same category, for her role as Rose Castorini in “Feitiço da Lua”.

Her most recent TV credits include the rebirth of Netflix for ‘San Francisco Chronicles’, where she reprized her role of Anna Madrigal from iterations of previous series, in addition to appearing in episodes of ‘Mike & Molly‘. ‘,’ Bored to Death ‘and’ Law & Order: Special Victims Unit ‘.

In addition to working in front of screens, she published an autobiography in 2003, titled “Ask Me Again Tomorrow: A Life in Progress”. A documentary about his life, “Olympia”, was released last year.

Dukakis won three Emmy nominations for his work on “Lucky Day” (1991), “More Chronicles of San Francisco” (1998) and the “Joana D’arc” miniseries (1999). She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globe Awards for her participation in the 1992 miniseries “Sinatra – The Music Was Just the Beginning”.
