Surprise for ‘The Goonies’ fans!
According to Variety, the classic and beloved 1980s feature will get a series remake by Disney+ and, according to producer Gail Berman, will accompany a group of aspiring filmmakers trying to recreate the film directed by Richard Donner, scene by stage. stage.
In an interview with the website they’re on, Berman said the idea was born out of a conversation involving a similar premise, but about another iconic production – “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
“It’s a partnership between me, Amblin, and Lauren Shuler Donner. When I was at Paramount, there were these boys doing a movie about Raiders of the Lost Ark, a scene-by-scene remake. That made a splash at the time and the studio was pretty upset about it,” he said. “I thought it was an amazing idea and it always stuck in my head – how can you take an idea like that and turn it into a TV series?”
Berman continues, “We needed an amazing writer and great partners, so we pitched the idea to Amblin and they loved it. Sarah Watson is our designer. The series tells the story of a town and a family through the lens of “Friday Night Lights”, and this is where they recreate “The Goonies”.
