According to Collider, director Ramin Bahrani (“The White Tiger”) will be tasked with bringing the new Apple TV + series, “The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray” to life.
The series stars Samuel L. Jackson and the recently announced Dominique Fishback (“Judas and the Black Messiah”), and comes in as an adaptation of the best-selling novel signed by Walter Mosley.
The story centers on the titular character (Jackson), a ninety-year-old man who suffers from dementia and has been neglected by most of his family. His only contact with the outside world was through his grandnephew, who was murdered in a shootout, which made Ptolemy doubt the intentions of anyone who wants to get close.
Eventually, he meets Robyn (Fishback), a tenant of his niece who is ready to take care of him. Encouraged by the young woman to leave the confines of her home and interact with the world, Ptolemy visits a doctor for an experimental drug that will give her vigor and clarity. With a clear mind, he decides to solve the mystery behind the death of his nephew.
Jackson and Diane Houslin enter as executive producers alongside David Levine and Eli Selden.
The series will have six episodes and marks the actor’s second project with the streaming platform after “ The Banker. ”
