According to The Holllywood Reporter, Dwayne Johnson has signed on to star in the Christmas movie from director Jake Kasdan, with whom he worked on “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: Next Stage”.
With the working title ‘Red One’, the film is the result of a partnership between Amazon Prime and producer Seven Bucks Productions.
Described as a four-quarter action-adventure comedy, the script written by Chris Morgan (“Fast and the Furious 8,” Bird Box “) will show Santa Claus (Johnson) traveling the world, imagining a whole new universe within of the sub-genre.
In addition to playing, Johnson will be one of the producers, along with Dany and Hiram Garcia.
Scheduled for the end of 2023, “Red One” should start filming as early as 2022.
As the project is still in its early stages, updates are expected to be released in the coming months.
