“ Alita: Battle Angel ” is considered a cult classic for many fans who attended the live-action adaptation of the animated franchise and continue to campaign for the film to win its sequel.
Launched in February 2019, the adaptation recorded a median box office ($ 404.9 million), prompting Fox to step down from a sequel.
Now director Robert Rodriguez has revealed he has hopes that Disney can make the sequel.
“I think anything is possible,” Rodriguez told Forbes. “Disney bought Fox and they have Disney +, so it’s worth talking about. I know other people would like to see another one and I would like to do another one. As to where that would go or how it would be done, I think streaming opened up a lot of opportunities, like footage. It’s already a pre-sold concept, it already has an audience that wants to see it. So it’s not a bad idea. “
Recently on British Small Screen, Walt Disney Studios is planning a series that will be a prequel to the events of the film and is expected to be streamed Disney +.
The website says the studio made the decision after pressure from fans on social media.
This is the second series to which Disney gives the green light based on a property acquired after the acquisition of Fox, the first is “Percy Jackson”, which will have five seasons.
Fans of the feature film created a petition on Change.org asking for a new movie, making sure the story has a large fan base.
And, oddly enough, the document has already registered more than 166,000 signatures.
As justification, the author says that:
“The film was made to generate footage and has a large fan base, such as readers of the manga and audiences who knew the story of the adaptation. So there is a good reason to develop new films.
To further appreciate it, producer Jon Landau posted an image indicating the sequel may be on its way.
In the photo, Landau appears wearing a very timely shirt. The gray top has the Alita poster printed and the text around the image says:
“Wash your hands. We want the streak.”
Directed by Robert Rodriguez (‘Sin City’), with screenplay and production by James Cameron (‘Avatar’), the film stars Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly, Eiza González, Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali, Michelle Rodriguez and Jackie Earle Haley .
