Selena to receive honorary award at 2021 Grammy Awards

Iconic queen of Latin music Selena Quintanilla-Pérez will be honored at the 63rd Grammy Awards with the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating her importance to the phonographic scene.

“Selena became a music legend not long after her takeoff in the 1980s. Her 1993 album, ‘Live‘, won the award for Best Mexican-American Album at the 36th Annual Grammy, making her the first female artist to win the category, ”the award’s official website announced. “Although her life tragically ended in 1995, the posthumous album ‘Dreaming Of You’ sold 175,000 copies on the day of its release, a record for a singer to date.”
