Since the announcement of the rebirth of the ‘Sex and the City’ series, fans have continued to wonder why character Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) won’t be appearing in the HBO Max special.

The bad news was revealed by Sarah Jessica Parker when she celebrated the return of the show and lamented Cattrall’s absence from her Instagram profile.

“We’ll have 10 more episodes of ‘Sex and the City,’ but Samantha Jones will be gone. Even so, she will always be with us, ”the actress said in response to a fan.

During an interview with TV Line, Casey Bloys, director of content for the streaming platform, was asked about the matter and attempted to turn the situation around with an evasive response.

“Just like in real life, there are people who come and go in our lives. Some come back, some don’t. Old friendships disappear and new friendships appear, this is the cycle of life. “

He continued:

“We’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York City. So everything has to look natural, because the friends you have at 30 may not be there at 50. “

Several rumors began to circulate when Cattrall was not on the list of stars who would return to production, which generated gossip alleging she was fighting Parker.

However, Parker brought up the subject in an Instagram story and made a point of clarifying that none of this is true, but did not reveal why the castmate would not be returning.

“I don’t know where they’re from as I don’t like Kim. I never said or demonstrated this. Never. Our group will always have a place for her, wherever we are. Samantha is part of us.

On the other hand, Cattrall even admitted that she had been persecuted behind the scenes by her colleague, who would be envious of her character’s popular reach.

In addition, Cattrall has reported awkward situations suffered behind the scenes, due to troubled relationship dynamics with Parker. It would have made the actress lose interest in remaining involved in the franchise.

In addition to Parker, the rebirth will feature the return of Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who will not only star, but also producers of the series.

Michael Patrick King, screenwriter, director and executive producer of “Sex and the City” returns in the same role as producer.

“The series follows Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the complicated journey of life and friendship from their 30s, now to an even more complicated stage in their 50s.”

Rumors suggest that the new episodes will have a more race-conscious and political storyline, in addition to staying a bit more connected with the real world.

Created by Darren Star (now before “Emily in Paris”), the original series spanned six seasons, aired between 1998 and 2004 on HBO.

The plot follows four friends who dealt with single life in New York City in the late 1990s, while one of them recounts his experiences in a journalistic column.

In theaters, “Sex and the City” grossed $ 415 million worldwide, while the sequel reached $ 280 million.
