Sony plans to produce ‘Spider-Man 4’ starring Tobey Maguire, rumors have it

According to sources close to the Giant Freakin Robot website, Sony Pictures is planning to produce a fourth chapter of Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ saga (via Express).

Reports indicate that the feature film would also bring back Tobey Maguire as the titular character, although neither he nor the filmmaker has signed a contract with the studio.

The next film is said to be a spin-off of the events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, also directed by Raimi and which, allegedly, will feature a participation by Maguire.

Would you like another arachnid hero movie?

Remember that ‘Doctor Strange 2’ will bring the protagonist with a look more faithful to the comics.

On the DiscussingFilm.net site, it was discussed how costume designer Richard Sale, also known for working on “Player No. 1” and “Wonder Woman 1984”, will be responsible for the costumes for the feature film. According to a source close to the press consortium, “the team has already built a new, more faithful look at Doctor Strange’s own comics.”

It’s worth remembering that while Doctor Strange’s costume in the MCU isn’t drastically different from the original, there are some significant changes, including the cover collar and color scheme that deviates from red. and gold and bet on the monochromatic – as Alexandra Byrn, costume designer for the first film, at SlashFilm noted.

Recently, star Benedict Cumberbatch praised director Sam Raimi, speaking about his work ethic and the collaborative process in production (via Collider):

“Sam, amazing. He’s very collaborative. It comes with the luggage of an icon. He’s an incredible force, especially in this genre. But he’s also so modest, so cool, grateful, you want to work with him. And, man, when he’s happy he knows he’s done something right. He’s good at getting you where you need to go. It was a very collaborative process. Our origin stories, I believe, and obviously the monsters that were the Avengers movies were part of the animation, but now you’re on your own. You are doing your best with what you already have ”.

Meanwhile, in other news, The Direct website suggested that the feature film could include a very interesting character in the plot: Rintrah.

The character, said to be played by Adam Hugill, is an interdimensional minotaur who has similar abilities to Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch).

Rintrah first appeared in Doctor Strange # 80, as he and his master, Enitharmon – a dinosaur-like wizard – were on a mission to mend a tear in the levitating cloak used by the hero.

Check out what we can expect from the sequel:

MULTIVERSE

The multiverse is a concept widely used in comics that allows multiple versions of Marvel characters to exist and experience their own stories. Several realities coexist in the thin line of the universe. Marvel played a prank on the audience by saying Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) would be a character from another dimension [SPOILER], but we saw that it was just one of his illusions [SPOILER]. The point is, the multiverse has been commented on since Phase 2, when Doctor Erik Selvig’s (Stellan Skarsgård) chart showed several Easter Eggs, such as the Multiverse, Convergence, and Universe 616, in Thor: The Dark. World (2013). The Quantum Realm itself, from virtually every movie involving Ant-Man, seems to fit into the concept of the multiverse. Finally, Doctor Strange himself was already involved in this concept in his original film. It was only a matter of time before it became the subject of a movie.

SUPREME MAGICIAN

With the death of the Ancient One, Doctor Strange became the Sorcerer Supreme. Grand head of the Order of Magi and guardian of our reality against interdimensional threats. But he already wore this title in 2016. Since then, it’s been 3 years, during which we only saw him as a secondary character in the Avengers movies. His movie 2 is the chance we have to see him to his full potential, with an emphasis on his new magical abilities and special powers.

If he’s ever been cool to see him multiply or throw Thanos against the mirror dimension, imagine what he can do in realities where time and space operate differently. It has gigantic visual potential. Thinking about the possibilities and imagining the spells he will use is part of the pre-movie fun.

Additionally, the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will be in the movie. In other words, there’s a good chance he’ll serve as a mentor to the Marvetes’ favorite little witch. It’s a function consistent with the character’s relevance, but one that has yet to be seen in theaters.

SCARLET WITCH

We’ve been following Wanda’s development since The Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015). She has not only evolved as a person, but has also seen her powers increase exponentially over the years. No wonder she nearly crushed Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Ultimato. From “bizarre” to Manipulator of Jewels of Infinity, the Scarlet Witch comes closer and closer to her potential in comics, where she is able to control the likelihood of events. And with the WandaVision series that will directly influence the direction of this film, its powers are expected to be a fundamental part of the plot. I dare say we might even have our first contact with the Mutants in this movie.

NIGHTMARE

Originally slated to be the villain of Doctor Strange’s first film, Nightmare is an interdimensional demon whose strength comes from fears of the human mind aroused during sleep.

Leader of the so-called Dimension of Dreams, the Nightmare does not have a defined gender, but it usually takes the form of a man dressed in green and an older appearance. It feeds on the energy that people release when they are afraid while sleeping. His powers depend on this energy, which is why he has already been involved in several clashes against Doctor Strange.

Extremely powerful, he prefers to tackle people with psychological issues or trauma in the past, as they are easier to suck in fear and pain. In fact, unlike most villains, this demon’s powers do not directly affect the rival’s physical body. The Nightmare has the ability to transport the Astral Body – the one the Elder (Tilda Swinton) stirred so much during her MCU appearances – to the Dream Dimension, where it brings the person’s mind to life. great fears and traumas, and can drive them crazy. Since fear is inherent in human beings, the nightmare is practically immortal.

In the comics, he was the first villain to face Doctor Strange. In theaters, actress Eva Green is invited to bring the demon to life.

HORROR

Marvel is looking to make films of several different genres that feature super powerful characters. There was a bank robbery movie, a war movie, humor, a space opera, a romantic comedy, a teenager and now … terror. At least, that’s what CEO Kevin Feige said at San Diego Comic Con. It should be remembered that the first Doctor Strange (2016) already had this proposal to be attracted to terror. Only now, with the resounding success of virtually every franchise, is he able to dare and even make the first 100% Marvel horror film.

And let’s face it, this is the perfect project for it. The interdimensional journey into the madness of the Multiverse has everything to offer frightening scenes. In addition, the main villain of the sequence has the main characteristic of hallucinating his victims with terrifying and endless nightmares. Additionally, director Scott Derrickson has made a name for himself in the genre of exorcisms and evil spirits. This is a great opportunity to scare the public.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ opens March 24, 2022
