‘Soul’: Tina Fey explains how she built her character for new Pixar animation

Pixar’s long-awaited animation “ Soul, ” debuts on the Disney + platform this week and will introduce moviegoers to a special character who still doesn’t quite know the meaning of life.

And in order for actress Tina Fey to build her character, called 22, she tried to visualize what it would be like to be in contact with the outside world for the first time, precisely so that she could pass the unusual sensation of finding out. something new in his whole life.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, she explained how the film’s visual construction also helped make 22 even more palpable to audiences:

“You kind of have to imagine what it’s like to eat pizza for the first time in your life and what it’s like to see New York for the first time. I think there is an amazing scene in the movie when they walk through the hospital door and 22 face 23rd and 7th streets. You know, it’s the busiest avenue! It’s so extraordinary and so precise, it’s a portrait of what it’s like to enter New York for the first time. So I think the visual part is a great guide to help me imagine what it would all look like in the character’s mind. I think a lot of amazing stories come from a fish out of the water, of a person who is the newbie to the city and that’s an epic version of that ”.
