‘Soul’ wins the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Soundtrack!

The 26th edition of the Critics‘ Choice Awards took place on March 7 and recognized the best in TV and film When the winners were announced, the acclaimed animation “Soul” took home the statuette for Best Soundtrack, composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Recalling that the film will be released in 4K, Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD versions on March 23.

The announcement was made by Casa do Mickey, who also revealed the full list of attractions featured in the Blu-ray and DVD releases:

Deleted Scenes Introduction – Writer Mike Jones and Story Supervisor Kristen Lester present the deleted scenes from “Soul.” Mentor Tips – Joe sneaks into the You Seminar mentoring program, trying to figure out how he can get back to… Earth. Fake Clubhouse – Joe follows 22 to his “secret lair” as she reluctantly agrees to help him find his way back to Earth. Run Home – Trapped inside Joe22’s body, he tries – awkwardly – to help his neighbor downstairs. Living the Dream – Joe has a candid conversation with 22 about his fear of living on Earth, so he tries to get home through a dream portal. Press Shot – Joe, trapped in a cat’s body, and 22-year-old trapped in Joe’s body, take the subway to the jazz club for a publicity photo shoot. Audio Commentary – Watch the film with audio commentary from Director Pete Docter, Co-Director / Writer Kemp Powers, and Producer Dana Murray. Not Your Ordinary Joe – See the thought and care involved in creating Joe and his story in the first Pixar film to feature a black main character. Astral Taffy – Take an in-depth look at the artistic and technical innovation that involved creating the sets and characters in the “Soul” world. In the plot, Joe Gardner is a high school music teacher who dreamed of becoming a jazz musician and eventually got the chance to impress other musicians during an open rehearsal at the Half Note Club. However, an accident causes her soul to separate from her body and transport to “You Seminar“, a center in which souls develop and acquire passions before being transported to a newborn baby. Joe has to work with trained souls, like 22, a soul with a dark outlook on life after being imprisoned for years at You Seminar, in order to return to Earth.

Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey lead the main cast, bringing Professor Joe Gardner and the soul known as 22 to life, respectively. Questlove, Daveed Diggs, Angela Bassett and Phylicia Rashad also lend their voices for the feature film.

Pete Docter and Ken Powers are the directors.
