Star Wars: Andor: Alan Tudyk will no longer reprise his role as K-2SO

Although Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy previously confirmed that Alan Tudyk will reprise his role as a K-2SO droid in ‘Andor,’ the star has revealed that he will not be a part of the spinoff series of ‘ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ”.

In an interview with Collider, Tudyk was asked about K-2SO’s role in the attraction and confirmed he was not invited to the recordings.

“I don’t know, production is already underway, they’re shooting now, and I haven’t been invited. But if the show continues on the air and the stories continue to be told, I have to appear at some point.

Sadly, it seems even he doesn’t know why the character was left out of the pull.

For those who don’t remember, the Rebel team seen in ‘Rogue One’ comments that they stole the K-2SO from the Empire and reprogrammed it.

It is therefore possible that this event has not yet occurred during the episodes of the series.

Previously, protagonist Diego Luna revealed to THR the surprising fan challenges, as they already know the fate of Cassian Andor.

“Although we already know the end of this story, I think it’s really interesting to tell the story and where Cassian came from. I think that’s our biggest challenge: to surprise the audience. But that’s a very enticing idea, because the show allows us to dig deeper into the characters, so you can better understand them and find out what they’re capable of. As an artist, there is nothing more exciting for me than showing the different sides of the same character.

He also compared the series to the original film and said the pull was as intense and exciting as the feature film.

“I have to be very careful how I react to everything because I can’t deliver spoilers. But the series is as intense as the movie [‘Rogue One‘]It’s exciting. The way we shoot reminds me of when I recorded “Rogue One”… The work is just as intense as it was back then, you know? It always leaves me with the feeling that we are making a new movie.

Recalling that the first season of ‘Andor’ will have 12 episodes scheduled to premiere in 2022.

Check out the teaser:

“Everything I did, I did for the rebellion.” Andor, an original series set in the Star Wars universe, airs in 2022 on #DisneyPlus.

The plot will follow the adventures of Cassian Andor during the rebellion’s early formative years, before the events of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story“. The gripping thriller will explore tales of espionage and daring missions to restore hope to the galaxy under the grip of a ruthless empire.

According to Deadline, Disney and Lucasfilm have hired Toby Haynes (“Utopia”) to replace Tony Gilroy as director of the attraction.

Gilroy left the executive chair due to travel issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while living in New York City.

Recalling that Stephen Schiff (“The Americans: Spy Network”) will act as screenwriter, producer and showrunner.

In addition to Luna and Tudyk, the cast includes Genevieve O’Reilly, Adria Arjona (‘Squadron 6′), Denise Gough (‘Guerrilla‘), Stellan Skarsgård (‘Chernobyl’) and Kyle Soller (‘The Titan’).

O’Reilly will reprise her role as chief member of the Rebel Alliance, Mon Mothma, the character she first played in “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” (2005), then in “Rogue One” .

Originally, the character was introduced in ‘Return of the Jedi’ (1983), played by Caroline Blakiston.

So far, details on the characters of Gough, Arjona, Skarsgård and Soller have not been revealed.
