‘Supreme voice of the blues’: Chadwick Boseman wins best actor at 2021 Critics’ Choice
After winning the Golden Globes for his incredible and chilling performance, Chadwick Boseman also won the posthumous Best Actor statuette for the biography ‘The Supreme Voice of the Blues’.
The film also received two other awards: Best Hair & Makeup and Best Costume Design for Ann Roth.
Directed by George C. Wolfe, “ The Supreme Voice of the Blues ” (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by August Wilson in 1982.
Chicago, 1927. During a recording session, tensions arise between Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), her ambitious trumpeter (Chadwick Boseman) and white businessmen determined to control the legendary Mother of the Blues. Based on the play by Pulitzer Prize-winning August Wilson.
Also on the bill are Glynn Turman, Taylour Paige, Dusan Brown, Colman Domingo and Michael Potts.
