The 15 actors who shone the most as a superhero

on

It is undeniable that superhero films are gaining more and more space in theaters. And in the hearts of spectators. In 2019, Captain Marvel, Shazam !, Hellboy, Avengers: Ultimatum, X-Men: Black Phoenix, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Avengers: Ultimatum and … the villainous movie Joker were released.

Knowing the public’s passion for the genre, CinePOP decided to remember 15 actors who perfectly portrayed superheroes. It’s important to note that the list only includes movies, so series from the Marvel / Netflix or DC / Warner partnerships have been left out. The squad doesn’t have any villains either, so there’s no point in complaining about the lack of names like Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger, or Tom Hiddleston.

Check out our full list! And run in the comments to create your own!

15 | Michael Keaton (Batman)

Many years before he tried his luck as a vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Michael Keaton played Bat-Man in Batman: The Movie and Batman: The Return, both directed by Tim Burton. The actor, like no other after him, embodies the glamorous side of Bruce Wayne like no other. Keaton ended up leaving the character after Burton left, but he wrote his name in the history of comic book adaptations.

14 | Wesley Snipes (blade)

It’s hard for Wesley Snipes to fit into a list of “the best”. He’s always been an average actor. And, lately, he ended up in prison for problems with American justice. But it is undeniable that the actor was the perfect choice for the role of Blade in the trilogy formed by Blade: The Vampire Hunter, Blade II and Blade: Trinity. The chemistry between actor and character was so good that until today (15 years later) Snipes is tipped to relive Blade.

13 | Chloë Grace Moretz (Hit Girl)

Released in 2010, Kick-Ass: Breaking Everything is an excellent adaptation of the comics by Mark Millar. And the main highlight is the presence of Chloë Grace Moretz in Hit Girl. At the time, the actress was only 13 years old. It was crazy (and brilliant) to see someone so young in such a violent role. The character stood out so much that she ended up gaining more space in the Kick-Ass 2 sequel. There was even talk of the possibility of a solo movie, but that ultimately didn’t happen.

12 | Ron Perlman (Hellboy)

As we spoke at the opening, we have a new Hellboy coming to theaters in 2019. Now played by David Harbor. While there is a curiosity to see the Stranger Things actor in the role, there is also a complaint that Ron Perlman is no longer in character. Even more so than Ron and Guillermo del Toro have always expressed their interest in making Hellboy 3. They deserved it. And U.S. too. Ron has the perfect build and sense of humor for the role.

11 | Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach)

Jackie Earle Haley is the only case on this list to have played the character once. And the actor managed to stand out even without showing his face. In Watchmen, The Movie, Jackie created a Rorschach to make Alan Moore proud. Arguably, Zack Snyder’s film is more concerned with style than content. But that’s certainly not the case with the actor’s performance.

10 | Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Chris Hemsworth seemed like he was cast to just be a pretty face (and all) in Thor. Over time and the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor has shown that it is much more than that. In addition to doing well in action scenes, Hemsworth displayed charisma and even good humor. He’s having a lot of fun in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. He is almost forgiven for not targeting Thanos in the head.

09 | Christian Bale (Batman)

Another Batman in the area. Don’t worry, it’s the last one – sorry, Ben! Christian Bale gave the hero more depth in the Batman Begins, Batman: The Dark Knight and Batman: The Dark Knight Rises trilogy, all directed by Christopher Nolan. The actor is charming, arrogant and intense. In other words, a perfect Bruce Wayne.

08 | Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman)

Showing that nerdy temper tantrums don’t usually make sense, Gal Gadot has proven to the world that she is a top-notch Wonder Woman. The actress was the best thing about Batman vs Superman: Origin of Justice, got rocked in her solo movie, and started doing well again in Justice League. In addition to being beautiful, the actress showed a lot of humor and charisma in the skin of the heroine. Let Wonder Woman come 1984.

07 | Tom Holland (Spider-Man)

Tobey Maguire, in his pre-Spider-Emo phase, shone as his neighborhood friend, so the dispute over who is the hero’s best performer deserves attention. One thing is clear, however, none of the previous actors incorporated Spider from the comics as well as Tom Holland. The young actor revealed to have charisma, talent and a lot of resourcefulness for the action scenes, as well as a perfect sense of humor for the character.

06 | Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)

Sam Jackson could be in that story for Ice Cream, a character he voiced in The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2. But his participation as Nick Fury is even more legendary, after all he was the connecting link in it. ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe until we reach The Avengers. The actor is featured in nine MCU films, including the still-unreleased Captain Marvel. And always imposing a presence worthy of those who manage to lead all these heroes.

05 | Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier)

James McAvoy has done an incredible job as Professor X in the last few X-Men movies, but he still hasn’t managed to score as much as Patrick Stewart’s role as a character. The 78-year-old actor gave legitimacy to the changing universe and created a complex and nuanced Charles Xavier. And he’s also forged an incredible partnership with Ian McKellen, who shone as Magneto, and only came out of this story because he’s a bad guy.

04 | Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool)

Ryan Reynolds starred in a double “save” deal. The success of Deadpool not only gave the actor a new opportunity in the world of superheroes (how to forget Green Lantern?), But also gave the character a new chance. For those who don’t remember, Ryan first played Deadpool in the tragic X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fortunately, the actor didn’t give up on the character and, with the help of the fans, managed to convince Fox to invest in Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Reynolds showed poise for the action scenes and, better, an insane mood that befits completely with the character. .

03 | Christopher Reeve (Superman)

Henry Cavill is (or was) a good Superman, but no one has scored – and will barely score – as much as Christopher Reeve. The star experienced the character of Superman: The Movie, Superman II: The Adventure Continues, Superman III and Superman IV: In Search of Peace. Reeve suffered an accident in the 90s and ended up being a quadriplegic, eventually dying in 2004. Yet he will always be remembered by the public as the ideal Man of Steel, exhibiting charm, elegance and by force. A hero in real life.

02 | Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man)

It was hard to let Robert Downey Jr. out of the top spot. The actor is virtually largely responsible for the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was the one who opened the doors with Iron Man (2008) and went on to shine in several other studio films. Now rumors say he can say goodbye in Avengers: Endgame. There is no way to prepare for this. The truth is, Downey Jr. is the perfect Tony Stark. Charming, arrogant and with a great sense of humor. It’s hard to imagine what the MCU would be like without him. But…

01 | Hugh Jackman (Wolverine)

There’s a reason Robert Downey Jr. has the silver medal and that reason is Hugh Jackman. The Australian star took on the role of Wolverine by chance. Casting for the character, Dougray Scott saw his Mission Impossible 2 filming schedule hamper the production of X-Men: The Movie. Without being able to wait, Fox abandons the actor and selects Jackman. After that, it’s all history. Hugh saw the character in eight films, in addition to being quoted / shown as a joke in the two Deadpool feature films. If we had the five X-Men movies or the first two Wolverine movies as a setting, maybe Hugh Jackman would be behind Downey Jr. in the selection. But that’s where Logan comes in. In 2017, the actor said goodbye to the character in a touching and brutal way in one of the best superhero movies ever made. And, in fact, it elevated the genre and delivered some real drama.
