‘The Black Phone’: James Ransone joins the cast of new horror from ‘Doctor Strange’ director

According to THR, James Ransone (‘IT: Chapter 2’) has joined the cast of ‘The Black Phone’, a new horror movie directed by Scott Derrickson (‘Doctor Strange‘).

Details of his role are being kept under wraps, but the website says his character will be called Max.

The feature film will mark the meeting between the actor and the director, who have already worked together on the horror “The Entity”.

The cast also includes Jeremy Davies, Mason Thames, Ethan Hawke and Madeleine McGraw.

The screenplay, based on a short story by Joe Hill, was written by Robert Cargill.

The story revolves around a kidnapped boy who receives a ghostly call from a broken cell phone.

Blumhouse will oversee the project.
