In addition to exposing the true faces of some superheroes, the plot of “The Boys” also criticizes political corruption, greedy businessmen, extremist groups, and even celebrity idolatry.

As a result, creator and showrunner Eric Cripke revealed to the Consequence of Sound podcast that he has received death threats from the public.

“When I first came up with the idea, there was never any resistance from my team or Amazon Studios. We knew we were going to face the wrath of some people, because we wanted to touch the wounds of society. The show attacks powerful people portrayed by megalomaniacal characters … and unbelievably as it sounds, these powerful people have fans.

He continued:

“Until [o produtor] Seth Rogen told me I could work on Judas, but I should be careful with it. I should show the fans that I was on their side. Even so, I received several death threats during the first season, and I think it’s human nature to use anger or hatred when you feel repressed and judged. The good news is that threats have decreased significantly in the interval between the two seasons. ”

The series also has some pretty bizarre visual content, including ripped faces, popping heads, embarrassing sex moments, unusual dialogue, and plenty of other quirks.

When asked about it, Kripke admitted that he was already quite used to it.

“To tell you the truth, following the scripting ended up being a lot of fun and joy for me. This is what worries me as we write Season 3. I have a very pleasant feeling. I know I should be in an intense and deep reflection on the barbarities that we have created, but whatever.

He also explained that the biggest challenge for the team is to maintain originality amid so many hero movies and series that come out every year.

“Every team behind a TV show is a little worried every season, you know? It seems more difficult, it seems that all its originality has already been explored … We don’t want to imitate films and series already made, so this is our daily challenge. Sometimes you have to go down a path you didn’t even think about when you started production, but that’s what makes the job of a content creator fascinating. “

Recalling that all episodes of the 2nd season of ‘The Boys’ are now available on Amazon Prime.
