“The Final Girl Support Group”: “It: The Thing” Director to Direct HBO Max’s New Horror Series

According to Deadline, Andy Muschietti (“It: The Thing”) will direct the pilot episode of “The Final Girl Support Group”, the new horror series from HBO Max.

In addition, the filmmaker will also be the producer of the project, alongside Barbara Muschietti and Charlize Theron.

The series is based on the eponymous book written by Grady Hendrix.

In the plot …

Lynnette Tarkington is the last real girl to survive a massacre. For over a decade, she joined five other girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, striving to get their lives back on track.

However, a woman misses a reunion and her worst fears come true: someone finds out about the group and is determined to once again destroy their lives, piece by piece.

But what happens to the latest girls is that no matter how bad the odds are, how dark the night is, and how sharp the knife is, they’ll never, ever give up.
