The Flash’s upcoming solo film promises to unify the multiverse, with Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton already confirmed in the cast, reprising their roles as Batman.
In an interview with Empire, George Clooney, who played the dark knight in the infamous’ Batman & Robin ‘, revealed that he was not asked to reprise the role in the highly anticipated’ The Flash. ”.
“They didn’t call me [para participar de ‘The Flash’]. I did not receive any calls. They didn’t want my nipples [referência ao traje]. There are some things you never know. But, I know it.
He adds, “The only way to be honest about these things is to include yourself. For example, when I say “Batman and Robin” is a terrible movie, I always add, “I was terrible”. “
Remember that Warner Bros. has postponed the release of the adaptation of “The Flash” for a few months. From now on, the feature film will only premiere on November 4, 2022.
Filming for the feature film does not begin until next year.
Recalling that Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will reprise their roles as Bruce Wayne in alternate universes in the adaptation directed by Andy Muschietti (‘It: The Thing’) and star of Ezra Miller.
Come to think of it, artist George Evangelista posted some amazing fan posters imagining the trio’s reunion.
The image was shared on his Instagram profile, and he wrote:
“Here’s another art with Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck. Like the previous version, the Flash costume was inspired by concept art released at DC Fandome, but I added a bit of my aesthetic to the look.
After Affleck’s return as Batman was confirmed, many fans wondered why he agreed to reprise the role.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, producer Barbara Muschietti said the star dropped the character because he was going through a bad time, but is now ready to relaunch the DCEU Batman.
“There was a lot of speculation and things he said about having trouble playing Batman, and it was tough for him. I think he gave up because he was going through a tough time in his personal life. When we approached him, he seemed to be at a different time. He was very open to the idea [de reprisar o papel], which was a surprise to us. “We are all human and we go through difficult situations. I’m glad he’s now interested in returning, as Batman’s presence will be fundamental and exciting, while having a fun twist.
In the same interview, director Andy Muschietti (“ It: The Thing ”) explained what makes the Batman version of Affleck so important to the character’s legacy.
“Ben Affleck’s Batman has a dichotomy that’s very strong, which is his masculinity – because of his looks, the towering figure he has, and his jawline – but he’s also vulnerable. He needs a story that highlights this contrast, this balance.
The filmmaker also spoke about the importance of the hero in the plot.
“Ben Affleck’s Batman is a very important part of the emotional impact of the film. Affleck’s interaction and relationship between Barry and Wayne will bring an emotional level that we have never seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but his characters are more connected than you think. The two lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional fires of the film. This is where Affleck’s Batman kicks in.
He added that:
“The movie is a bit of a pivotal point in the sense that it presents a story that involves a unified universe where all the cinematic iterations we’ve seen before hold true. […] It is inclusive in the sense that it says that everything you have seen exists and everything you will see exists, in the same unified multiverse.
Rumors also indicate that Michael Keaton will reprise the role, as he played the hero in two films directed by Tim Burton: “Batman” (1989) and “Batman: The Return” (1992).
The plot will show Barry Allen / The Flash (Ezra Miller) traveling through time to prevent the murder of his mother. However, when he returns to the present, his mother is still alive…. but the world is a nightmare. The Justice League never existed and Barry must do everything to correct all of its flaws.
