‘The Last of Us’: the series will bring some changes from the first game in the franchise

A few months ago, it was revealed that the first season of the series “The Last of Us” will focus on the events of the franchise’s first game.

However, game creator Neil Druckmanm told IGN that the adaptation will result in changes from the original material.

“Craig [Mazin, o showrunner] and I have talked a lot about the first season of the series and we will bring you the main elements of the game like the philosophical foundations of the story. When it comes to superficial things, like the clothes of the characters or certain characteristics present in the game, there may be changes in this direction. Some of these characteristics may or may not show up in the adaptation, what matters to us is the essence of who these people are and the essence of their journey.

He went on to say that the script will also deviate a bit from what has been shown in the game.

“Things are sometimes very closed and that limits us a lot. It’s great when concrete things work, like when I see the in-game dialogue present in the script … but we have to take a few detours to create an effect that is more suitable for TV, because we are dealing with a different medium. .

Unfortunately, he did not specify what those discrepancies would be, so we can only wait for further updates.

So, are you excited to debut?

Enjoy watching:

Recalling that Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) will give life to Joel, described as “a thick-skinned survivor, plagued by past trauma and failures, who must travel through an America devastated by the pandemic, while protecting a girl who represents humanity’s last hope ”.

Bella Ramsey (“The Worst Witch”), better known as Lyanna Mormont in “Game of Thrones”, will bring Ellie to life.

Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov was recruited to direct the pilot episode, replacing Johan Renck, who had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) will also be producer and screenwriter.

In an interview with the BBC, Mazin revealed that the plot will expand the game universe, making it clear that the series will not change the main elements of the games, just bring more information.

“If you’ve played ‘The Last of Us’ before, our intention is for you to watch the program and say ‘it didn’t violate anything that I liked about the game’. We won’t change anything, either with respect to the plot or the characters, but we will bring a lot more information about this universe. Believe me, the story is very large and leaves room for many new ideas, some really amazing ideas.

The production is the result of a partnership between Naughty Dog, HBO, Sony Pictures Televison and PlayStation Productions, which will make its debut in creating television series.

Still without a start date, the project will also have Neil Druckmann (one of the game’s creators) as executive producer and will feature Naughty Dog presidents Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells as additional producers.

Released in 2013, “ The Last of Us ” takes place in a post-apocalyptic future and follows the journey of drug dealer Joel and young Ellie, the only one capable of finding a cure for the disease that has devastated the world. .
