Previously, director Nia DaCosta spoke to Variety about her approach to the long-awaited film.

“I can say that it is a [produção] quite different. But I’m obsessed with how we all deal with our pain and trauma, and there’s something of that in the story, ”she said.

In another interview, this time with Entertainment Weekly, she touted that she was free enough to provide her own take on the story.

“It’s amazing. It’s a lot more freedom than I’ve had on any other project. It’s great, because we’re all big comic book nerds who want to make a good cartoon movie.

“Of course it’s a lot less traumatic. But this film also deals with personal, specific, sometimes sad things. But no, it’s been amazing working in a different world, that’s for sure.

Brie Larson returns as Captain Marvel / Carol Danvers. The cast also includes Iman Vellani (“Ms. Marvel”) and Teyonah Parris (“WandaVision“).

Megan McDonnell signs the script.
