On his Instagram profile, director Rob Zombie (Rejected by the Devil) announced on his Instagram profile that he will adapt the classic ‘The Munsters’ series for theaters.

In recent years, several rumors have revolved around the production, but the filmmaker has finally confirmed the news.

In the caption, he looked very excited as he wrote:

“Attention, ladies and gentlemen! The rumors are true. My next film will be based on an idea that I have been pursuing for 20 years: “The Monster Family”. Stay tuned for news soon.

In March, rumors hinted that Zombie was working on a series-related adaptation with his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, playing Lily Munster and longtime collaborator Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster.

However, no other details have been confirmed by Zombie, so far.

For those unfamiliar with it, the series only had two seasons, aired between 1964 and 1966, totaling 70 episodes.

The plot follows a typical working-class, middle-class family from the suburbs of major cities, although the house they lived in resembles a Victorian-style Gothic mansion.

The head of the family is Herman, an employee of a funeral home, who has the classic Frankenstein monster look, very loud and somewhat slow and childish. He is married to the vampire Lily, who makes all the decisions in the household. Like her, Grandpa is also a vampire and dresses like Count Dracula.

Enjoy watching:

Their son’s name is Eddie, a werewolf kid still in high school. And then there is Marilyn, a very pretty teenage girl who is the couple’s niece, the only one of human appearance.

When she brought home a suitor (which was often the case), Herman’s appearance scared them away. He and Marilyn thought it was because she was “very ugly”.

In 1988, the show was renewed under the title ‘The Monster Family’ due to the change of studio.

Aired between 1988 and 1991, the new series had 72 episodes and showed the routine of the family after being asleep for 22 years due to an unsuccessful grandfather experience.

Obviously, the whole cast has been replaced.
