In an interview with Cinema Blend, director Josh Boone confirmed that alien hero Warlock will be part of the adaptation of “ The New Mutants ”, but had to be cut from production due to budget issues.
In his Instagram profile, illustrator Deryl Braun, head of the film’s conceptual arts, finally revealed what the character would look like.
In the caption he wrote:
“A few years ago, it was my first film related job. Thanks again to Iron Klad Studios and Justin Fields [ex-supervisor de design da Fox] that is why. I will be posting more conceptual art soon. “
Despite the cut, Boone said he intends to introduce the character in the sequel.
“Warlock was part of the movie in the early drafts of the script. He was part of the plot until six months before filming started, but he would double our budget. It would be too expensive [tê-lo no filme]. And we had to cut it out of history for the project to take off. “
He continues: “Our plan was to present the second film to you. So I hope everyone will watch “The New Mutants”. “
Based on the eponymous comic book created by Bill Sienkiewicz, the film follows a group of misfit characters who try to figure out their lives, while being tormented by their own powers, which will give the film an uncomfortable and scary feeling.
The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Alice Braga, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga and Colbi Gannett.
