“The Suicide Squad”: Why did the Bloodthirstys replace the Gunslinger in the new movie? Understand!

When it was announced that Idris Elba would play a bloodthirsty goalscorer in “The Suicide Squad,” many fans assumed the star would replace Will Smith as Gunslinger.

However, things got confused when it was revealed that Elba would bring the Bloodthirsty to life (hence the pun in the previous paragraph).

As the two characters have roughly the same abilities… Why trade the Gunslinger for a lesser known assassin?

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Elba was asked about this and said he didn’t want to take Smith’s place.

“These rumors that I would take Will’s place were natural because he said he wouldn’t be joining the second movie, so it was only natural for fans to think that I would be Gunslinger’s new performer, but this was never my intention. “

He continued, thanking director James Gunn for reshaping the role:

“Will is a great friend and I’m glad James didn’t put me in his shoes, I didn’t want to do that. Gunslinger is a great character and Will gave this character his all, so I was really excited and I laughed a lot when these rumors started to circulate.
