“A film that seems to have been made by people who don’t understand the story, the true nature or the appeal of their iconic characters.” – G. Allen Johnson, Chronicle of San Francisco

“You can point out the changes in the rules of the movie with respect to the laws of physics and communications between species, but Tom and Jerry certainly don’t care about those details, so why should we?” – Alonso Duralde, TheWrap

“Tom and Jerry” has five to ten minutes of action that might have worked in one of the duo’s animated short films, and is surrounded by an excessive amount of unimaginative and graceless human conflict. – John DeFore, Hollywood journalist

“No, ‘Tom and Jerry’ won’t win any Oscars … but that’s good enough for easy laughs.” – Peter Debruge, Variety

Tim Story’s uninspired “Tom & Jerry” won’t be interrupted for lack of enthusiasm, but the human component depicted in Kevin Costello’s empty script weakens most of the antics that Tom and Jerry get involved in. “- Nate Adams, the only critic

“Tom and Jerry” began as a series produced in short episodes, averaging seven and 10 minutes each. Between the 1940s and 1958, the Hanna-Barbera studio made 114 short films for MGM. With the worldwide success of animation, the duo ended up winning a real television series in 1975, called – initially – “The Tom and Jerry Show”.
