‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ opens today (15) in national theaters and many fans have wondered why some changes have been made to the characteristics of famous Looney Tunes animated characters.

The main change was the popular bunny Lola Bunny, who lost some of her sensuality, which has always been the hallmark of the character. And there is a reason for that.

In an interview with CinePOP, director Malcolm D. Lee spoke about the controversy and the pressure to make a new movie in the franchise:

“About Lola, we wanted to empower her and make her stronger without objectifying her. The original Lola had human characteristics. She was like a damsel in distress. In this version, she is strong. She is a leader. I believe a lot of young women who want to play basketball will feel that they can be themselves and play basketball, ”she revealed.
