Upcoming Marvel Movies Will Have More GAYS and TRANS Heroes, Kevin Feige Confirms

‘Eternals’ will feature Marvel’s first openly gay couple in theaters. Superhero Phastos, played by Brian Tyree Henry, will be married to actor Haaz Steiman, and they will share the MCU’s first LGBTQIA + kiss.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said the company “absolutely” plans to introduce more LGBTQ + characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Feige was asked if Marvel plans to introduce other community figures, “specifically trans people”:

“Yes. Absolutely yes. Let’s add gay and trans diversity. And very soon, in a movie we’re shooting right now, we’ll have an openly gay character.

When asked by another student if the success of “Black Panther” and “Captain Marvel” meant the MCU would become something more diverse, Feige commented that this had always been Marvel’s plan.

“Every time we make a movie, we hope it is successful so that we can make another one. That’s always the idea. And with these two movies in particular, we wanted to show comic book heroes. who represent the world that watches our films. So our intention has always been to continue to do so. The cool thing is that both feature films were huge successes and took all doubts away, and hopefully that it has inspired companies around the world to do the same.

He even said that Phastos is “just the beginning”.

“We already had gay heroes in the comics. Now we have it in the movies too. And that’s just the beginning. ”Feige explained.

‘Eternals’ follows the journey of quasi-immortal beings, products of the evolutionary divergence that gave birth to the human race millennia ago. The characters relate to several concepts already introduced in previous universe films, from the Celestials (who came out in “Guardians of the Galaxy”) to Thanos, whose own mother was one of his victims.
