Star Tom Holland spoke to the website and confirmed the film will be the darkest in the franchise, Holland said:

“I think it will be more dramatic, but we’ll always keep the fun tone of the franchise. The difference is that Peter Parker will have to face darker people. Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Electro are back. They will reveal a side of Peter Parker that we didn’t know, ”he said.
