According to EW, Matt Barr (“Valor”) has joined the cast of the “Walker” reboot, which will star Jared Padalecki.
The actor will play Hoyt, Cordell’s (Padalecki) best friend. The character is described as a “Han Solo,” who is on the other side of the law from his friend.

Created by Anna Fricke, the production is a reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” a classic series starring Chuck Norris.
The plot follows Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there is more difficult work to be done around the house.
The cast also includes Keegan Allen (‘Pretty Little Liars’), Lindsey Morgan (‘The 100’), Coby Bell (‘The Gifted’) and Mitch Pileggi (‘Dallas’).
The reboot will begin on January 21.
