‘WandaVision’: Teyonah Parris celebrates black representation in Disney + series

The new edition of Entertainment Weekly magazine brings several new features to “WandaVision,” including interviews with actors.

One of the stars of the series is Teyonah Parris, who explained how she reacted when she found out that she had been chosen to play Monica Rambeau.

For those who don’t remember, Rambeau was introduced in ‘Captain Marvel’, still a child, and now audiences will see his adult version.

Additionally, Parris spoke about the importance of diversity in production, which made sure to bring black representation to the attraction.

“When I found out that I actually had the role, I tried to jump off a ladder because I felt I could fly [de tanta felicidade]. My family had to calm me down because I was very agitated.

She continued:

“I feel very special and honored to be able to bring Monica Rambeau to life and tell her story. I hope playing this character is a chance to give voice to under-represented people. I hope the visibility of a black woman will help other people see themselves as they should in society.

Recalling that Rambeau was the 2nd heroine to take on the role of “ Captain Marvel ” in the comics, adopting several code names, such as Photon, Pulsar and Spectrum.

Among his powers, he can fly, travel at the speed of light, and even transform into pure energy, so there’s a good chance he’ll see his full potential in the MCU at some point.

However, it is not yet clear how she will be part of the “WandaVision” plot, but some behind-the-scenes photos suggest that she will become a member of SWORD, a sort of replacement agency for SHIELD.

The ‘WandaVision’ series will be available in the Disney + catalog from January 15, 2021.

The ad was revealed in a video that was just 28 seconds long, showing the different realities in which Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are present.

In the background, it is also possible to hear the laughter of the audience, showing that the series will also have a humorous side … and a little dark.

WandaVision ‘mixes classic sitcom style with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the series, Wanda Maximoff and Visão – two super powerful beings living their suburban dream – begin to suspect that nothing is what it appears to be.

The series is directed by Matt Shankman (“Game of Thrones”) and stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Teyonah Parris.
