“Wonder Woman 1984” topped $ 100 million at the global box office. Despite much discussion about the fate of Patty Jenkins’ film, things are going well for the DC Comics feature film.

In the United States, the film grossed $ 16.7 million over the extended weekend – the BIGGEST premiere in the country since theaters reopened after the COVID pandemic. The film was released in 2,100 theaters in the United States and got a good opening on the big screens.

Brazil won the film’s fourth-highest box office in the world with 8.7 million reais, behind only China, Taiwan and Thailand, even with just 70% of the open-show market in the country. This reaffirms the strength of Brazilian productions and DC fans in the country, adding to several recent box office records with films such as “Joker”, “Aquaman” and “Justice League”.

Following the announcement of the opening, Warner confirmed that the third film in the franchise is in development.

“As fans around the world continue to embark on Diana Prince’s adventure, with the powerful opening of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, we are thrilled to be able to continue her story with our real Wonder Women – Gal and Patty – who will return to complete the long-planned film trilogy, ”Toby Emmerich, chief of Warner Bros., said in an official statement.
