“Wonder Woman 1984”: “We want to give consumers a choice of those who can’t go to the movies”

Less than an hour ago, Warner Bros. has confirmed that “Wonder Woman 1984” will be released on December 25 in North American theaters and streaming US HBO Max. Yes, the SAME day.

In a press release, Ann Sarnoff, President and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios, explained the controversial decision:

“As we went through this unprecedented time, we had to be innovative to move our business forward while continuing to provide our fans. It’s an incredible movie that really comes to life on the big screen, and together with our viewing community partners, we’ll be bringing this option to consumers in the United States, in open theaters. We have realized that many consumers cannot return to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the opportunity to see Wonder Woman 1984 through our HBO Max platform, ”he said.

Unlike “Mulan”, “Wonder Woman 1984” will cost nothing more than the monthly subscription fee. HBO Max (US) subscribers will be able to watch the film directly from home. The streaming service costs $ 14.99 per month.

“The time has come. At some point you must choose to share the love and joy that you have to give, above all…”, said director Patty Jenkins as she announced the decision.
